    Welcome to my blog!

You can simply call me ‘Prem’.

I was born in 1980 and if my math is right, I am 21.  I am married and have a beautiful daughter. I don’t know if there’s anything worthwhile about me to discuss. But if you insist, read on!

    Yeah.. I banter sometimes!
I work in an industry that deals with ‘data’, huge volumes of it! My work is to help businesses make sense out of ‘data’ and hence to assist in driving key business ‘decisions’. (Data –> Information –> Decision). In short, I work on Business Intelligence, data warehousing and databases. Therein lies one of my passions! I pretend to work in an IT company!(My resume is available here.)

I am a person of varied interests. And I am extremely passionate about :

Apart from these, other interests are collecting coins, bird watching,  playing cricket, table tennis, watching war movies, etc.  My interests keep changing with time too.

I am what you could call a wanderer of thoughts and actions. Very fluid.. but across a multi-year span. Every 2 years or so it seems, I change. Sometimes for good, sometimes bad! At the same time, I am a guy of strong commitments. The few commitments I make, I keep! Fluid and committed.. yikes! Sounds like a lie even to me! But looking back, I can identify with both pretty strongly.

I used to be a restless and ambitious guy with a million thoughts. Of late, I have loosened my seat belt! A few life goals were sent packing so that I could take time to enjoy my life.

I grew up in Nilgiris (Ooty) and I guess that is where my love of nature, cycling, etc come from. I come from a middle class farmer family that has deviated from agriculture in the last 2 generations and I always dream of reversing the trend. I did my schooling mostly in Breeks All India Sec school in Ooty and my engineering in Kongu Engg college near Erode. My secondary schooling years were fantastic, but engineering did little to shape me up. Quite the reverse of what usually happens with most guys. (I did really really enjoy my college years… but I can’t recollect any ways in which those 4 years changed my life except for getting me a run-of-the mill IT job.)

My first role model in life is my father, though I will never admit to it in front of him. He shaped me up in many ways… kindling the inquisitive spirit in me, developing the love of books in me by buying me Amar Chitra Katha comics and giving me money to buy Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novels, taking me out in the night to gaze at the stars and wonder at the jewels in the sky, taking me to war movies like “The lion of the desert” and explaining who Mussolini was, teaching me how to play chess, teaching me the ‘big bang theory’ … I can go on. I owe a lot to him!

    Trivia:

    • I don’t believe in destiny, but think that certain powerful events can shape your life.
    • I don’t believe in idols or religions, but do believe in God. Perhaps there really is no God. Maybe hope, good actions, love,… these can be identified with godliness.
    • I don’t believe in charity, but do believe in micro-credit and similar self-support enhancing methods.
    • I don’t believe in amassing wealth, but believe that the more money you have, the easier it is for you to chase your life dreams.
    • I am confused about the purpose of life.
    • I either over-react or under-react. I am more inclined towards extremes than the middle path. I am a guy of obsessions than moderation.

This blog is a place where I express my thoughts on anything under the sun! I don’t know why I blog.. I am no great blogger. And I do not have any agenda for this blog, except maybe improving my on-line presence. I am not behind the top 100 list or 10,000 visitors per month. I just want to write… Also I would love to connect with people. I would love to network with people having similar interests.

If you want to know me better (I would like to believe you do.. atleast satisfies my ego!), there are many ways to connect, apart from this blog. Any time, feel free to contact me on:
