We all love free software.

But not all free software is good.

How wonderful it would be if good software is available for free?

Well, I have a list of 8 wonderful software that can enhance your life.. and are free at the same time.

1. GNU Cash:
I have already written about it here. I love this financial tracker. Double entry book keeping is its highlight. So, every time I have spent money, but forgotten about it… I can just have a look at GNU cash and whats in my wallet and make out the difference. And the latest version is more stable on my Windows XP box.

2. Wikidpad:
WikidPad is a note taking application that incorporates wiki links between pages. Just like a Wiki, you can actively link between pages. It is a wonderful tool to store your ideas and thoughts. It is a notepad on steroids. Today, it almost my Diary, notepad, task tracker.. what not. Download it here.

3. Freemind:
Freemind is a free mind mapping tool. I use this tool always to brainstorm. With Wikidpad and Freemind together, you can accomplish a lot. If you like mind mapping, you will love this tool. Use it today!!

4. Keepass:
A great tool to store your passwords safely. It encrypts your passwords and keeps them safely for you. Download it here.

5. Dsynchronize:
This is a fantastic tool to synchronize data between several disks. I love its simplicity. There could be better tools. But I don’t have any reason to be dissatisfied with this tool. Download it here.

6. Ganttproject:
A tool that is a skimmed down version of Microsoft Project. But it is very simple to use. And is a great project planner. I use it regularly for my work at office. Download it here.

7. Open office:
A replacement for Microsoft Office. And has almost all features as MS Office. And you pay nothing. Download it here.

8. Truecrypt:
TrueCrypt helps you to convert a drive into a encrypted storage device. It helps you to store personal information on thumb drives, encrypted strongly so that you don’t have to worry about losing it to someone else. Download it here.
